Stream Restoration Database
In 2016, WRF and MHFD co-sponsored expansion of the BMP Database to include stream restoration techniques for improving water quality. The overall goal of the Stream Restoration Database project is to develop a scientifically based set of monitoring and reporting protocols for water quality, ecological function, and habitat performance of stream restoration and stabilization projects and develop a national database to store information on these projects. The primary purposes are to support improvements in stream restoration applications, provide consistent data sets to support regulatory compliance for Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit compliance, and pollutant and ecosystem services trading.
Work completed to date include stream restoration monitoring and reporting protocols, data entry spreadsheets, initially populated stream restoration database in Microsoft Access and an initial performance summary report.
A companion project to stream restoration database includes Stream Restoration Crediting Guidance, which is being updated in 2020.
